Learning Outcome :
Outcome 3—Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
3.2 Children take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical wellbeing
Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world
2.1 Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation.
Goal
To develop gross motor skills and concentration.
To inspire chasing, jumping, bouncing and passing games!
Rationale:
1.      Gross Motor Skill:
Balloon activities can help develop babies with gross motor skills such as crawling, running, chasing and jumping this in turn develops larger muscle movements.

2.      Social Wellbeing
Playing in a group can help babies developl a sense of belonging to a group and help in their social wellbeing. Balloons can be drawn on, played with alone or with friends.

3.      Concentration: Children’s length of concentration develops and improves over time. Chasing and catching balloons requires good concentration and this type of focusing can help a child develop his or her overall concentration levels.
4.      Colour Recognition: Balloon activity encourages colour awareness. Using one or different colours gives children an opportunity to gain awareness of the lesser known colours or a particular colour.

5.       Hand & Eye Coordination:  Watching and catching balloons, also coordinating both actions may assist babies in the development of their hand and eye coordination.
