Goal
Create awareness of healthy eating through diverse cultural activity and promote social wellbeing by involving children.

Cultural Background : India
Food/Recipe: Potato Patties
Rationale:
1.      Create awareness of cultural diversity in terms of preparing foods from different cultural background. 
2.      Improve communication, interaction and collaboration. Interact verbally and non-verbally with others by discussing recipes & cooking.
3.      Achieve sense of belonging to a group through shared activity.
4.      Develop knowledge and self-confidence through practicing measuring skills.
5.      Show food handling, hygiene and food safety practices.
Resources:
·        Potato Masher
·        Spoon
·        Bowl
·        mixing spoons
·        Stove/Oven/microwave
·        Apron

Ingredients:
·        5 Potatoes
·        1 carrot
·        ½ cup of green peas if available
·        1 cup of bread crumbs
·        3 tsp of Oil
·        ½ tsp of turmeric powder
·        ½ of Salt
·        ¼ inch of Ginger (grated and crushed)
How will resources be set up/presented?
1.      Keep boiled potatoes, grated carrots and green peas ready.
2.      Allow and help children to mash the potatoes, add grated carrot and green peas.
3.      Assist children to add turmeric powder, salt and crushed ginger and mix it well.
4.      Let children to feel the mashed potato mix.
5.      Take a scoop of mixture and roll it and pat it to make small cake.
6.      Allow children to dip it bread crumbs.
7.      Then pan fry the patties with little oil.
