Do you get the feeling that political debate is increasingly polarized? Certainly in the country where I used to live, the India, politics appears to be at an impasse. The impression I have is that the same factions seem to be stubbornly rehashing the same debates with little compromise. It is frustrating, quite boring and from a social science point of view a little perplexing.
By far India's politics is in a state of total shamble having a democracy at its stake due to recent attack by weapons of mass polarization unleashed by fascists.
But what if polarisation is entirely to be expected? And what if it is not the result of ignorance or small-mindedness, but a perfectly human response to our fallibilities and flaws? Some of the latest research shows us that one reason for the polarisation we see today comes down to a few, incredibly influential minorities.
Social scientists have historically explained polarisation as the result of irrational thinking. Surely, any reasonable, although mis-informed, person will accept when they are mistaken, the argument goes. Someone who stubbornly sticks to their wrongly held beliefs when presented with evidence is, you would think, clearly acting irrationally.
The worst part is protester even don't know what is the citizenship law brings to the table. No doubt about it, the law is contentious and non-democratic and non secular by its nature. One has to understand and talk what exactly it is. In democracy, decisions are taken based on majority but what if the majority is centric to big large group of same mindset. Sometimes I feel the whole constituency and parliamentary system is farce. It require a larger referendum to change the way we elect (form majority) and we take decisions.
The India's politics and its decision is solely depends upon how we perceive and understand the whole process and work towards development . The gradual process to bring change must be welcomed if and only if it benefits society rather than one group or one section of society. We need educated
At a time when India’s major national priority ought to be cratering economic growth, current government has instead plunged the country into a new political crisis of its own making.
